Improving Food Security and Income
Friends of Orphans helps war affected communities improve on their food security and income generating activities. We provide entrepreneurial skills training, educate the farmers and provide information on how they can access the markets without exploitation.
We train the communities in animal and crop husbandry and later on donate animals (goats, and cattle) and assorted seeds to child mothers, women heading vulnerable families, orphans and people living with disability. We offer guidance and expertise; and encourage the beneficiaries to donate a female of the litter to another vulnerable household.
Food security and income generating intervention is essential in fighting poverty and rehabilitating people’s attitude towards life, work and sustainability, as well as supporting them to produce more than enough for both consumption and sale.
